Injured Farrier's Fund
"The purpose of the IFF is to assist an eligible member of the TPFA with household expenses while recuperating from an injury or illness, the magnitude of which prevents them from performing normal farrier business duties."
The guidelines contained herewith shall govern the Injured Farriers Fund, hereafter referred to as IFF.
The IFF shall be established by the Texas Professional Farriers Association, hereafter referred to as TPFA.
Eligibility REquirements:
Must be a regular member of the TPFA in good standing for a minimum of 30 days. If renewing members’ dues lapse past 30 days (Feb. 1st), they will be subject to the 30 day waiting period before being eligible for benefits.
At least 50% of claimant’s income must be derived from shoeing horses.
Claimant must apply to IFF chair for benefit and must provide doctor verification of inability to work.
Pre‐existing conditions will not be covered.
Claimant must reside in Texas or one of the contiguous states (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana).
IFF benefits to be paid to eligible applicants as follows:
Maximum annual benefit is 7% of IFF account balance at time of claim or maximum benefit of $2,400 annually

3 boxes of horseshoes and 1 case of nails donated by Kahn Forge
PROCESS:
Claimant is injured or ill and not able to perform farrier duties
Claimant acquires letter from Doctor stating medical condition and length of time not able to work
Letter is sent to the IFF chairman where it is then sent to the oversight committee for approval and eligibility verification.
Once approved checks will be written and mailed to arrive weekly to claimant for 6 weeks or until claimant is able to return to work. (If 6 weeks benefits are not received, remaining benefits would be available for another claim in the same year.)
Claimant will communicate to the IFF Chairman which local supply store they wish to receive shoes and nails from.
IFF chair will contact supply store to verify claimants eligibility
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
It is possible to draw from the TPFA IFF and the OFA’s Disability Fund simultaneously if claimant has dual membership. However the horseshoe and nail donations are not to be drawn through each association. The supplies are available one time per year, per horseshoer.
