2008 28th Annual TPFA Shoeing Contest Shoe List
Student Division
All shoes are made from keg shoes provided.
Class 1- Pair of fronts with toe clips – 45 min
Class 2- pair of hinds with quarter clips – 45 min
Class 3- pair of hinds with square toe and quarter clips – 60 min
All shoes need to be turned in with a suitable nail.
Division One
Class 1- pair of fronts, plain stamped with a toe clip. Six nails,
suitable nail. 3/8 x 3/4 x 11 ½ - 45 min
Class 2- pair of front bar shoes, plain stamped quarter clips. Six nails
suitable nail. 3/8 x 3/4 x 14 – 45 min
Class 3- pair of hinds with a square toe and a rolled toe, quarter
clips. Six nails suitable nail. 3/8 x 3/4 x 11 ½ - 60 min
Shoeing- Pair of feet with keg shoes, toe clipped – 65 min
Division Two
Class 1- pair of fronts, fullered, rocker toes, side clipped, six nails
suitable nail. 3/8 x 3/4 x 12 – 45 min
Class 2- pair of hind straight barshoes, fullered, quarter clipped, six nails
suitable nail. 3/8 x 3/4 x 14 ½ - 45 min
Class 3- pair 3/8 x 3/4 x 12 ½ Concave caulk and wedge – 60 min
Shoeing- pair of feet, hand made, plain stamped, clipped – 65 min
Open
Class 1- full set of journeyman shoes. fullered,(fronts toe clipped)
(hinds quarter clipped with a safed toe). Fronts 3/8 x 3/4 x 11 1/2.
Hinds 3/8 x 3/4 x 11 – 45 min
Class 2- Judges Choice – 45 min
Class 3- pair of fronts, fullered toe clipped, six nails suitable nail.
3/8 x 1 x 14 – 60 min
Shoeing- pair of feet, fullered, clipped. – 65 min
3 Person Draft
Shoe front and hind, ¾ fullered ½ x 1 ¼, suitable nail. Draft specimen- Front draft straight bar shoe, fullered eight nails punched
for E 10, toe clipped. 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 22 – 120 min
3 Person Forging
Div 1, 2 and Open teams randomly selected partners will make 3 shoes (1 per person). The shoe will be, front straight bar shoe, ¾ fullered, toe clip, 3/8 x 1. Each team member will work on his shoe for 12 minutes then pass it to the next team member to work on for 12 minutes and so on. For a total of 36 minutes. The team will turn in 3 shoes to be judged together. 36 min

Same as last year.
